💡 Why We Recommend This

You're testing your knowledge of one of the most detailed narratives in Genesis — chapters 6 through 9 are packed with specific measurements, timelines, and names. Having tabs in your Bible means you can flip straight to the passage, verify your answers, and read the context around each question. Sunday School teachers swear by them for exactly this reason.

About This Quiz

This quiz is built around the specific details of Genesis 6–9 in the King James Version — not just the broad outlines everyone knows, but the exact information the text records: the type of wood used, the precise dimensions of the ark in cubits, the sequence of birds Noah released, the exact number of people on board, and what God said when He made His covenant after the flood.

All 30 questions come directly from the KJV text with Scripture references attached to every answer. Whether you're preparing a Sunday School lesson, testing your personal Bible knowledge, or competing in a church trivia night, this quiz gives you a thorough workout on one of the most famous and detailed narratives in all of Scripture.

Noah's Ark isn't just for children. The account in Genesis is theologically rich, historically specific, and remarkably detailed. This quiz is designed for anyone who wants to move beyond the Sunday School basics and actually know what the Bible says.

Why This Topic Still Matters Today

Noah's story is the first great act of divine judgment and divine preservation in Scripture. It establishes patterns that run through the entire Bible — water as an agent of both judgment and cleansing, a remnant preserved through God's faithfulness, a covenant God makes with His creation, and a new beginning after catastrophe.

Jesus himself referenced Noah directly. In Matthew 24:37–39, He compared the days before His return to the days of Noah — people going about their normal lives, oblivious to approaching judgment. If you want to understand what Jesus was warning His disciples about, you need to know the Noah account well.

The flood also raises the deepest theological questions about God's character: Why did He grieve that He had made man? What does it mean that Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD? How does a righteous God deal with a world full of violence and corruption? These aren't abstract questions — they're the same questions people ask today, and Genesis answers them.

For Sunday School teachers and parents, Noah's Ark is often the first major Bible story children encounter. But knowing it deeply enough to teach it — to answer the hard questions about what actually happened — requires more than a basic familiarity with the story. This quiz helps you get there.

Study Tips for This Quiz

Know the ark's specifications: Gopher wood. Three stories. 300 cubits long, 50 cubits wide, 30 cubits high. A window, a door in the side, and rooms throughout. These details from Genesis 6:14–16 appear in almost every quiz on this topic.

Understand the animal numbers: There's a distinction that trips many people up. God commanded seven pairs of every clean animal and one pair of every unclean animal (Genesis 7:2). Not simply two of each — that's an oversimplification. Clean animals needed extras for the sacrifice after the flood.

Track the flood timeline carefully: Rain fell for 40 days and nights. The waters prevailed for 150 days. After the waters receded, Noah waited, then sent out a raven (which kept flying back and forth) and then a dove three times. The whole ordeal lasted over a year — Noah and his family were on the ark from the 17th day of the second month until the 27th day of the second month of the following year.

Know the covenant details: God promised never to destroy the earth by flood again. The sign was a rainbow. This covenant was made not just with Noah but with every living creature on earth. The name God gave to that place wasn't recorded in the Noah account — but the covenant itself is described in Genesis 9:8–17.

Pay attention to Noah's character description: Genesis 6:9 calls Noah a just man, perfect in his generations, who walked with God. That phrase 'walked with God' is also used of Enoch in Genesis 5:24 — it signals an exceptionally close relationship with the LORD.
